First of all, as has been mentioned before, being a Queen is not my rank. It's my caste. And it means EVERYTHING to me. My caste holds the responsibilities that I must live up to. The fact that I am also an aristo really doesn't have any bearing on the matter. I'd be just as committed to be a good Queen for my people if I were the daughter of a cobbler!

And just because a male ought to strive to live up to his rank doesn't mean he will. The fact that I am here is proof enough of that. Instead, I give all people the base respect they deserve by being people, and let them prove that they're holding to the oaths that they swore. Your base-born servant Merlin has proven himself to be a nobler man than many I have met.

I'm not failing to acknowledge anything. I'm simply demanding respect for myself, not for some faceless, paper cut-out you can label Queen and be done with it. If you respect me, you'll give my title far more respect than if you can simply relegate us into the same category that you do all females. It is a disservice to both my rank and my caste to allow you to do so.

Mun: Karla is not in any of the books enough for my liking--even though I do love all over the books anyway.

And yes, let Karla play with Ender. She promises not to hurt him. Much.
bitchprince: (just naturally rude and insensitive)

A man of rank should be treated as such, but whether I deal with him has to do with whether or not he manages to live up to it. I fail to see that issue; however, if he's purposefully cruel or neglectful, I have little compunction about sneaking across his borders to set a few things right. It is my wish that Camelot might one day do that for everyone that needs it.

But that doesn't make the rank null and void. That merely means they're bad at it, and that's another tier of interaction to begin with. I know no castes, merely inherited and earned ranks, and you can rest assured that until my dying day I'll argue that the latter should be open to all who hold that merit.

I just don't think that Prince, King nor Queen are that kind of rank. It defines who you are. Denying me it to 'get to know me' means you're tossing out the very foundations I have in my life.

Of course, being me, articulating this is kind of an issue when there isn't something hands-on I can show it with. I have no doubt this will probably lead to Merlin accusing me of being rude and insensitive by nature again.

Mwahaha. He's too good at keeping to his comfort zone. He needs to be rattled.
