You'd be surprised! Back in Midgar, any SOLDIER worth the uniform he's wearing has his own fan club and everything!

... I would have said I'd be a SOLDIER when I grew up, but I kinda already am one, and there really isn't any room for promotion once you're at the rank that I've got anyhow. But, you know, people paying attention to me when I do something right? That wouldn't hurt, too.

Interesting. So you'll just stay the level of SOLDIER you are until you stop being one? That doesn't sound like it's a system that rewards effort much.

And recognition is always nice.

... You know, usually I'd argue with that logic, but lately they haven't even been giving me any work. I'd be getting frustrated, if I wasn't too bored to be frustrated.

Well, sure, but what difference does it make to ME? Saving the world is just part of the job description -- I'm going to do it regardless. I don't have to be made into some kind of hero because of it.

Sure. Fine. Whatever. If you want to get all technical about it. But I'm not heroic. I'm not a role model, and I'm not some attention-whore who needs praise. I'm just a guy doing a job, that's all.

But... I don't know. A pat on the back now and then and somebody telling me that I'm doing the right thing, for once? That would be... kinda nice.
